About Experience Highlights

Zapatillas Keys

These islands that are filled with mangroves, white sands and reefs full of marine life, are a part of the National Maritime Park of Bastimentos. The legend says that they were formed when God stepped into the world and that this is why they have the shape of "zapatillas" (tennis shoes).

They are extremely important for the conservation of species due to the big amount of Carey Turtles, which nest their eggs here and which are in danger of extinction. It is possible to walk a great deal of the island, except for a few parts, which because of the density of the brushes, call to cross it across paths, which allows the visitors to enjoy nature at its best.

This is a deserted island, which only inhabitant is the guard in charge of taking care of it, closing the entrance of persons at 4:00 PM.

Bluefield Lagoon

The bay has very come waters, a lagoon surrounded by a small community of Ngobe Bugle natives. It's possible to walk the beach and visit these natives. It’s also possible to visit the water fall inside the island. You can see many Sea Stars throughout the beaches. The region is known for the possibility to catch lobsters and the spectacular fishing.

This is a place known for its beauty, very appropriate to anchor here to spend the night. Among the activities, that are possible we have: Visiting the waterfall, kayaking, snorkeling, BBQ at the beach, interacting with the natives of the Ngobe Bugle tribe from whom we can buy freshly caught sea-food. It’s a place where the visitors can have the exotic experience of interacting with the natives, who can teach them to navigate on their piraguas.
